Today I leave Umeå for the summer, first heading to Fontainebleau for 10 days before meeting my brother and a friend back in Stockholm to begin a road trip up to the Lofoten Islands. I’ll spend around 10 days up in the far north before moving to Paris for July and most of August. The last 9 days of August I’ll spend attending an Urban IxD workshop in Croatia before returning to Umeå in September for my second year. As excited as I am for summer to begin, the past few weeks at UID have been quite fantastic and very memorable. In addition to wrapping up a group service design project I am very proud of, attending the UID 2013 degree talks, and very much enjoying the degree party; the continuous daylight and gorgeous summer weather that has filled Umeå has me feeling a bit bittersweet about leaving.
